Metal Coaters, a business segment of NCI Group, opened a new coil coating facility in Middletown, Ohio. The facility, previously operated by Material Sciences Corp., was purchased in June 2010 and has been revamped and modernized. The facility can coat various gauges and widths of metal for a wide variety of applications, with either conventional, dried-in-place or RoHS-compliant pretreatments.

In addition to modernizing the coil coating line, an embossing unit has been installed at the facility. A rail spur was also constructed to provide additional flexibility for customers who desire toll processing of their metal substrate. The company now operates four strategically located light-gauge, coil coating facilities providing maximum supply chain flexibility for customers.

“This newly-opened facility will allow customers in the Midwestern and Great Lakes regions to experience the flexibility, reliability, quality and service that manufacturers in the rest of the United States have come to depend on from Metal Coaters,” said company president John Kuzdal. “With the addition of the Middletown facility, we now operate facilities in three time zones and are the only coil coater in the United States that can provide localized service to every manufacturing region of significance in the United States.”

As a full-service coil coater, Metal Coaters offers a complete line of coating finishes including Polyesters, Silicone Modified Polyesters (SMP), Fluorocarbons (PVDF) and Plastisol (PVC).  Coatings are available for interior or exterior and for warranted or non-warranted applications.  Additionally, Metal Coaters has slitting and embossing capabilities performed separate from the coil coating processes on dedicated production lines. The company also has manufacturing facilities in Jackson, Miss., Marietta, Ga., and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
