Blue Giant Equipment Corp., a Canadian manufacturer of dock equipment, recently hired Gerard O’Leary as business development manager for Blue Giant-Australia. O'Leary will be responsible for supporting dealers and expanding sales in Australia.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gerry to the business development team,” said Jeff Miller, vice president of sales and marketing. “The combination of his product expertise and strong relationships in the marketplace will contribute to Blue Giant’s continued success in Australia.”

O’Leary has over 30 years of experience in the material-handling industry. In 1991 he established O’Leary’s Material Handling Services, which specialized in sales and servicing of hydraulic tail lifts, waste equipment and Blue Giant docking equipment. O'Leary left his material-handling company in 2011 to start OLTIS Australia, a new venture that offers employee training and equipment inspections/audits to help businesses comply with Australian regulations.

"Gerry has always maintained a healthy relationship with Blue Giant, so we’re pleased to have him on the team. We anticipate that his industry knowledge and experience will strengthen Blue Giant’s market position and distribution network further,” said Steve Greco, director of national accounts. “By having a local presence now, we can service our customer base more effectively and efficiently while supporting Gerry’s efforts from our head office in Canada.”

Blue Giant, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in May 2013, is based in Brampton, Ontario. The company’s product line includes dock levelers, vehicle restraints, intelligent dock controls, dock and door guards, door seals and shelters, and a diverse range of material-handling equipment.
