An overhead door dealer in Norwalk, Conn., collected Thanksgiving turkeys and other food items last week for a local food bank.

Ed's Garage Doors invited community members to drop off food to benefit The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, which will deliver hundreds of turkeys and canned goods to needy families for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The door dealer also received turkeys from its vendors, LiftMaster and Northwest Door, each of which donated 100 turkeys, said Rich Cunningham, owner of Ed's Garage Doors. In addition, Sen. Bob Duff, who represents Norwalk and Darien, participated by dropping off a bag of food.

Cunningham was assisted by The First Tee, a youth-development program that teaches golf skills to underprivileged children.
