Gate operator and access-control distributor, Encon Electronics, collaborated with The Chamberlain Corp. for a two-day technical seminar April 15-16 at Encon’s training facility in Hayward, California.

Chamberlain’s Regional Seminar Trainer, Bill McCoy, presented in-depth technical training on Chamberlain’s latest telephone entry systems to a large group of experienced Encon dealers and Encon technical sales representatives.

McCoy provided a detailed overview of the EL2000 and EL25 telephone entry systems as well as the EL2000 controller and Chamberlain’s Versa XS software. He covered common installation issues, telephone line basics, functional testing and troubleshooting.

According to McCoy, “The EL25 and EL2000 represent the new telephone entry platform replacing most of the pre-existing Sentex line. The EL25 is a direct replacement for the Crown Jewell but has many additional functions. The EL2000 will replace the remaining Sentex line excluding the Infinity series.”

McCoy dedicated the majority of the seminar to the Versa XS Software. Attendees were given step-by-step instructions on how to utilize the software and several programming tips. “Entry codes must always be longer than directory codes to create a clear distinction between dialing a tenant and entering an entry code,” McCoy says. “To track event transactions, cards programmed as a block must also be assigned to a specific tenant,” McCoy adds.

“Mr. McCoy is a respected industry veteran with over 20 years experience. By attending this seminar, I gained troubleshooting, installation and programming information that I can now pass on to our dealers,” says David Aldave, Encon technical sales representative.
