David A Meyer has announced the formation of JD Access Associates LLC, a manufacturers rep agency dedicated to the door and gate access industry. Meyer is a veteran of the door and gate-operator industry, having owned Edwards Power Door, a manufacturer of commercial door operators, for 11 years. He recently left Allstar, a manufacturer of door and gate operators, after 10 years as VP of Sales and Operations.
Joining Meyer at JD Access Associates is another well-espected industry veteran, Jerry P Buckley. Buckley is a former member of the IDA Board of Directors and is well known for his years of dedication to the door and gate access industry.
While manufacturers reps are by no means unique, this agency's approach is. When fully staffed they expect to have 10-12 associates calling on every door and gate dealer, distributor and OEM account in the United States on behalf of five-six principals with non-competing, complimentary lines. The principals and their product lines will be exclusive to the agency, and all of the agency associates will represent nothing but these products.
While JD Access Associates will consider both small and large principal accounts, their focus is more toward mid-sized regional manufacturers with national aspirations. This also works well with a smaller manufacturer that on their own can only budget for one or two reps, but with the agency approach will have a full national sales force.
