Northwest Door Receives Recycler of the Year Award

The Washington State Recycling Association presented their 2008 Recycler of the Year Awards at a gala banquet in Pasco, Wash.
Northwest Door of Tacoma, Wash., which specializes in producing high quality, high value residential and commercial doors and equipment, was recognized for its continuing commitment
to recycling and sustainable practices as a business generator.
As a result of instituting a comprehensive recycling program in April 2007, each year Northwest Door diverts over 1,200
tons of materials from the landfill by recycling over 85 percent of their solid waste including steel, tin, wood, plastics, paper, cardboard, cans, bottles and plastic insulation foam.
A direct economic benefit has been a reduction in their garbage bill of 70 percent, or $70,000.
The award was accepted by Scott DeWitt, vice president of manufacturing.
