Martin Doors’ Energy Program Wins Kudos From DOE

01/15/2008

Martin Door Manufacturing has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its part in a federal energy savings program.

This recognition is the result of recommendations Martin implemented in their plant following a 2006 energy savings assessment that Martin performed in conjunction with the University of Utah.

Douglas Kaempf, a program manager at the DOE, said it is companies like Martin Door Manufacturing that are helping to make a “significant impact” on U.S. industrial energy use and competitiveness.

“We are pleased to present you with this certificate of appreciation to recognize your plant’s exemplary participation in an Energy Savings Assessment,” says Kaempf.

Larry Martin, vice president of MDM, says the company’s cooperative effort with U of U students is part of the company-wide approach to a lean manufacturing principle of partnering with groups or agencies that many consider adversarial in order to improve the company’s processes.
